This activity was designed to give my students practice using transitional words and phrases, as well as to develop fine motors skills. Transitional words and phrases can create powerful links between ideas in a written piece and carries the reader from one idea to the next. Some of my students struggle to learn only auditorily or visually, and needed tactile experiences to develop their learning skills.
These worksheets contain various levels and types of transitional phrases. Students can use these worksheets to reinforce the initial concept of using transitional phrases or build fluency in identifying and using the correct phrase.
The majority of the phrases in these worksheets are used as sentence starters.
