The cycles approach targets phonological pattern errors and is designed for highly unintelligible children who have extensive omissions, some substitutions, and a restricted use of consonants (ASHA website).
I've included a set of cards to go with the primary patterns of the Cycles Approach. I formed this according to the rules of Spanish with the help of this research study: BoU, Nydia.(2010) Adaptation of Dr. Hodson Cycles Approach for Puertorrican Spanish Phonology. Retrieved from www.asha.org/events/convention/handouts/2010/1840-bou-nydia/
This bundle targets the following phonological processes and sounds with 3-5 targets per processes:
*Syllable Reduction (2 and 3 syllables)
*Fronting (initial /g/, /k/, and /h/)
*Backing (initial /t/, /d/, and /n/)
*Initial Consonant Deletion (/p/, and /b/)
*Final Consonant Deletion (final /n/)
*Cluster Reduction (initial /s /pl/ - /bl/ - /kl/ - /gl/ - /bɾ/ - /pɾ/ - /tɾ/ -/dɾ/ - /kɾ/ - /gɾ/ -/fl/ - /fɾ/)
*Gliding (initial /l/ and /r/)
*Flap Deviation (word initial /ɾ/)
