Students write a postcard to loved ones from camp Cyclorama where the Molecule kids have gone for the summer to experience their individual cycles in nature. This simple activity allows for creative writing practice, while focusing in the content area. There is no rubric, however I like to use this assignment to develop a rubric as a class and then have students grade each other's post cards. Directions are simple, students can choose which Molecule kid they want to be, or can be assigned, or randomly drawn. (letting them choose or assigning multiples might be best in an advanced setting). Copy the first 2 pages front/back (you may have to turn page 2 upside down then copy front/back) to make the postcard. Cut page 3 in two (2 sets of directions per page) for activity instructions.
