*This task is designed as an early investigation involving volume of a cylinder.
*It can be adapted and modified in numerous ways. One way to differentiate/modify is to give each group a different size sheet of rectangular paper. You can also modify for a supported group by telling them what units to measure in (centimeters would be easiest).
*I usually give very little instruction and allow groups to productively struggle on their own.
*Allowing students to tape or staple the cylinders together is helpful.
