I have broken down the DBQ to introduce students to the new writing concept. This is super helpful for a sophomore level class where students are first learning about the DBQ or are having a difficult time understanding how it works and is scored. Use the guided notes and PowerPoint first, then move onto all of the practice activities and the modified DBQ works best during a Middle Ages Unit but can still work well at any time during the year.
I have also included worksheets to help students understand what is expected for the thesis. Included are outlines created to help them break down the DBQ by the requirements of the rubric and worksheets that help them determine what exactly is required in developing a strong thesis.
