This DBQ asks students to analyze 9 primary/secondary sources surrounding the onset of the French Revolution. Students have to analyze the various documents and come to the conclusion surrounding whether King Louis XVI is most responsible for the onset of the French Revolution. As students analyze each primary/secondary source they will have to highlight evidence in the source that both pulls them towards the conclusion that the King is the most responsible for the onset of the revolution and pushes them away from this idea. Students will have to complete a graphic organizer that breaks down the various arguments that highlights evidence that supports why they believe their position, but will have to present counter evidence that made it difficult for them to reach their conclusions. This activity will provide students with a groundwork for the French Revolution and will enable the teacher and students to go into a deeper analysis of the French Rev. following this activity.
