D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) is one of my favorite things to do with my language arts classes. But I also need to keep my students accountable and "conscious readers." So I've created the D.E.A.R. Survival Guide that includes fifteen activities that align perfectly with Common Core Language Arts standards. Activities include Literature Circles, Book Selection Survey, Character Obituary, Create a Bookmark, Book Report Projects, D.E.A.R. Questionnaire, Say Mean Matter Graphic Organizer, I Am Poem, Create a Postcard, and Discussion Starters. Your students will be literary pros in no time and will come to LOVE these activities.
