For Elvira Woodruff's well-written novel depicting the hardships and determination of people on a wagon train to Oregon, here are comprehension questions for each chapter in a variety of simple styles: cloze, matching, true/false, sequencing, cause/effect, and short phrase or sentence answers. ANSWER KEYS INCLUDED.
Mid-novel essay topics are here as well as suggested topic sentences.
A theme essay matrix is included too along with several possible theme topics. This aligns well with 6 + 1 traits: Ideas, Organization, Word Choice, and Sentence Fluency.
In addition, there are a glossary, worksheets and puzzles for wagon train terminology, geography, vocabulary, and word search for names in the novel, and lots of teacher suggestions.
I've added my introductory Figurative Language worksheet and some practice for that using sentences from the novel.
