Product Description
In this activity, you get to kill 3 or 4 birds with one stone!

There are 42 quotes in this product that focus on the topic of love.
For students in 4th Grade in Texas, all expository prompts are based on a person, event, experience, or place that students like or love.
In secondary, the prompts are all based on personality or character traits, love being one of them.

The first section of each page has a quote, truism or word of wisdom with grammatical errors that need to be edited. Students will get to practice working on capitalization, usage, punctuation, run-ons, fragments and spelling.
For 4th graders taking the STAAR Test in Texas, that is worth 16 points!
They only need 18 points to pass the test.
For 7th graders, editing is worth 17 of the possible 46 points kids can earn on the STAAR test.
For 9th and 10th graders, editing has a value of 9 points.

The second section asks the students to make a personal connection to the quote that they can apply to their lives emotionally with their feelings or mentally with their opinions.

The last section allows the students to think of real life examples that the quotes can apply to such as personal examples, hypothetical examples, current event examples from shows, videos, songs, sporting events, new, internet, etc., and even historical events that happened before their time.

For students needing to write expository or persuasive essays, quotes, truisms and words of wisdom make very powerful statements when used correctly. All your students need to do is learn how to tie them to what they are writing about, and this DEAR WOW activity is the tool that will effectively get that done for you!
