Create a Book Cover in Google Drive™ to add to a collaborative and INTERACTIVE bookshelf on a Google Slides presentation! Great for 1:1 classrooms that have access to Chromebooks™ or laptops. This project would be a great addition to your March Reading Month celebration!
Students will design a book cover in Google Drawing™. They will save and add their book to a collaborative Google Slides™ presentation that contains an image of two different bookshelves. Students will hyperlink their book cover to a different slide within the presentation (directions are included). On this slide students will type a description of their book. Each slide contains a "home" icon that will take you back to the main slide. Once all of the students have added their image and description they can put the presentation in presentation mode to present. The hyperlinks in this presentation will make it very interactive!

What is included?
★ Directions in Google Slides: Step-by-step directions are included! Two YouTube video tutorials I created are embedded into the slides to go along with the directions. Launch this on your board to walk through together as a class OR distribute to your students for them to follow independently.
★ Book Cover Design Template in Google Drawing: Give each student their own copy of this template. They will watch the video tutorial embedded in the directions presentation that will show them how to use some of the tools to design their book cover. They will save their book as a png file before importing to the collaborative Google Slides presentation.
★ Bookshelves Collaborative Presentation in Google Slides: Share the link to the collaborative presentation. Students will take turns adding their book to one of the shelves that appears on the title slide. They will also add a description to their assigned slide that they will link to their book icon.
★ Editable Grading Rubric in Google Slides: A 30 point grading rubric is included. Just add your grading criteria to the 6 text boxes and print! Slide is already set to print on 8.5x11 paper.
★ Final Project example: An example of a completed project is included for you to show your students before they begin.
★ Embedding Directions: A slide appears in the directions presentation that tells you how you can embed the final presentation(s) to your class blog/website.
★ Book Cover Project Links in Google Slides: All of the links to the items mentioned above come in one Google Slides presentation. This download will contain a PDF with a link that will take you to this view only presentation slide. When you click on each link you will be prompted to Make a Copy. Rename the file to whatever you would like. It will be sent directly to your Drive! Disperse to your students via Google Classroom™, Google Drive™ Shared folder, your Learning Platform, etc..
ALTERNATIVES to the collaboration portion of this project:
•If you have a large class size, you might consider breaking your class into groups and providing each group with their own Bookshelf Google Slides presentation link. This will allow for more space in between the books on the bookshelves. Then each group could present their interactive bookshelf to the class!
•Although I created this activity for the collaboration component, you could opt for students to work on their own presentation and create multiple books. (They could keep track of all the books they read!) They would need access to multiple copies of the Google Drawing template. Or, they can create each app, save it and then redesign a new app all within the one Google Drawing template.
