This resource is perfect for any early years classroom. It has two resources.
1.The first being an oral language activity, where the teacher gives a child a word out loud. The child needs to listen for the blend, and using a fly swatter, swat the blend they hear. A basic list of words is included in this resource. You could give a counter or a fake bug to the children as they get them correct to make this game a little extra fun. A perfect game for a small group or teacher focus group.
2.The second activity in this resource is more of a reading activity, where children sound out the word, identify the blend and place the flies in the correct bug jars. The jars need to be blown up to A3 for them to fit. Simply laminate the jars and the flies, cut up the flies and the students can then start sorting and catching flies to place into their bug jars.
Please note: This resource includes 8 diagraphs- sh, ch, th, wh, kn, qu, wr, ph (focusing mostly on beginning diagraphs). Some words in this resource include the blend in the middle or the end of the word, mostly to extend those children that need extending, but most of the diagraphs are at the beginning. We hope you enjoy using this resource in your classroom.
The resource comes in two fonts-Victorian Mod Cursive and Sassoon.
