What educators are saying

It is a great resources for students to learn how to draw a flower on Google Drawings. I would highly recommend it for those who want to teach or learn Google Drawings in class.

Description

Digital Directed Drawings are a great way for students to practice following directions while learning how to use digital tools to make designs. This resource will require students to create a diagram of the water cycle. The typed directions are editable. Vocabulary terms covered include: evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection.

The teacher will project the included directions presentation in Google Slides™ on the board. Students will open a new Google Drawing™ template on their Chromebook, laptop or computer. (Google Drawing is not available on iPads). The slides in the presentation walk students through each step to create a diagram of the water cycle. Each step is animated (when in presentation mode) so students can read the directions, carry out the directives on their device and then check to see if they did the step correctly once the main presentation advances (just click!). I have even included animated gifs to show students how to use the polyline tool to draw their body of water and piece of land. The steps follow the same order that water travels in the water cycle. The last step of the activity requires students to add a text box, write a few sentences about their diagram and highlight the science vocabulary terms.

Technology skills covered:

★Undo
★Using the Shapes tool
★Using the Polyline tool to draw polygons
★Changing colors of shapes/drawings
★Adding arrows
★Duplicating or creating a copy of objects
★Add labels by inserting a textboxes
★Customizing font (style, size and color)
★Highlighting words
★Changing the background color on a Google Drawing

Three skills are hit in this one activity: technology fluency, science (water cycle) and writing. This Google Classroom activity would be GREAT for children who are just beginning to learn how to use Google Drawing™. Other Google Drawing skills can be found in my BASIC PARTS OF A FLOWER DIGITAL DIRECTED DRAWING, DIGITAL DIRECTED DRAWING IN GOOGLE DRIVE™: PLANT AND ANIMAL CELLS and BUTTERFLY DIGITAL DIRECTED DRAWING Activities!
