This Rules of Divisibility Number Sort
will have students expanding their number sense in a fun and active way! This game is fully interactive and is designed to be used in google drive.
It includes 20 rounds
where students drag and drop numbers into one of two boxes- "Divisible by ___" or "Not Divisible by ___". The divisibility rules for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 are explained and covered. Each slide has either 8 or 12 numbers, giving your students 200 chances to practice this skill!
The 20 rounds are broken down like this:
⇒Rounds 1 - 5: Divisibility rules for 2, 3, 4, 5, & 10 with explanation and examples
⇒Rounds 6 - 10: Divisibility rules for 2, 3, 4, 5, & 10, no explanation
⇒Rounds 11 - 15: Divisibility rules for 6, 7, 8, 9, & 12 with explanation and examples
⇒Rounds 16 - 20:Divisibility rules for 6, 7, 8, 9, & 12, no explanation
For the more challenging rounds where the explanation is not given, students can always refer back to the earlier slide if needed. The fact that the rounds get progressively more difficult makes differentiation a breeze. You could assign the whole class to the first 10 levels and then just a small group that need to be challenged to the last 10. The possibilities are endless!

I love using divisibility rules to help build number sense and fact fluency. In lower grades, these quick tricks can help students with factors and multiples. In higher grades, these rules will help with simplifying fractions as well as prime factorization.
My students have always felt like they were learning secret magic tricks that they could use to wow their friends. These rules are fun number tricks that help kids love math and will save them time and energy down the road! Some of them, I didn't know about until I became a teacher and I find that I use them in my daily life ALL. THE. TIME.
I hear from teachers all the time: "I love your number sorts, but who has time to cut out thousands of tiny slips of paper?! Plus keeping track of it all from year-to-year is a nightmare!"
This game can be used whole group, as a math center, in small groups, for partner work, as a take-home activity, or as a challenge activity for early finishers. The possibilities are truly endless!
The game is designed for 4th or 5th grade, but could also be used as a review game for any 6th -12th grade math classroom.
