Digital Fairy Tale Elements in Google Slides is a paperless way to study fairy tales using Google Drive. You can use ANY title(s) with this resource. Even if your students do not have Google accounts, you can use this as a whole group activity!
What is included?
★ Fairy Tale Elements Chart Option #1:
Students type in the title of each fairy tale they read into the left hand column of the table and use the text boxes to add the specifics about each fairy tale element from the story. The table has room for 4 different stories but you can easily duplicate this slide if you plan on studying more than 4 fairy tales.
★ Fairy Tale Elements Chart Option #2:
Students type in the title of each fairy tale they read into the left hand column of the table and drag and drop the provided stars into the table to mark the fairy tale elements each story contains. The table has room for 4 different stories but you can easily duplicate this slide if you plan on studying more than 4 fairy tales.
Fairy Tale Elements on the charts include:
• Begins with Once Upon a Time/Long, long ago
• Contains a Good Character & Evil Character
• Has an element of magic
• Royalty or Castles
• Things come in 3s or 7s
• Problem & solution
• Ends with Happily Ever After
*Not all fairy tales contain ALL of these elements. That is why this chart comes in handy and checks for understanding/recall*
★ Beginning, Middle and Ending Graphic Organizer:
Students type in the title of the fairy tale you assign and use the text boxes in the colored table to type what happens at the beginning, middle and end of the story.
★ Summarize Graphic Organizer:
Students type in the title of the fairy tale you assign and use the text boxes in the colored rectangles to summarize the story using the Somebody, Wanted, But, So strategy.
★ Venn Diagram Graphic Organizer:
Students will compare two fairy tales AND/OR fractured fairy tales using the Venn Diagram and text boxes provided.
★ Write Your Own Fairy Tale Brainstorming Graphic Organizer:
Students will have the opportunity to write their own fairy tale! Use this graphic organizer for the brainstorming process.
★ Write Your Own Fairy Tale Template:
This slide serves as the template in which students will type their story that they brainstormed in the slide above. Slides are set to print on 8.5x11 paper.
*All slides can easily be duplicated for extra practice (For when you study more than one fairy tale)*
Directions are included.
Students directions appear at the bottom of each slide.
*Students can use this individually or collaboratively with their book study group*
This download comes as a PDF file. First, make sure you are signed into your Google account. Click on the link and you will be prompted to "Make a Copy" of the presentation. Rename the presentation to whatever you would like. It will be sent directly to your Drive! Disperse the digital activities to your students via Google Classroom, Google Drive Shared folder, your Learning Platform, etc..
