This digital and paper writing resource, which includes narrative, informational, and opinion writing prompts, is intended to help your students learn the differences between the three main writing genres and write to prompts within those genres. This is exactly what they will be doing on state tests like the SBAC!
What you will find in this resource is an introduction lesson where the students will create an anchor chart detailing the differences between the three writing genres. Next follows a lesson plan teaching the difference between the genres, while writing to a prompt. There are then prompt topics with a total of 30 (THIRTY) writing prompt. Graphic organizers and writing papers to help the students write in all three genres within those same prompt topics are also included. Your students will be writing up a storm, all the while distinguishing between the three genres. They will have 30 completed writing pieces if they complete all of these prompts!
An example of the organizer and each response has been included, as well as digital links to an editable version of the organizers. This way, you can enter your own prompts in as well. Included are DIGITAL links to send this assignment out via Google Classroom to your students as well.
