Product Description

Articulation therapy starts HERE! Do you have new students starting a sound from scratch? Or students who have plateaued or have been struggling with carryover of their articulation skills? This no prep, print & go worksheet (for every sound) targets 3 crucial components of therapy 1) exploring and rating their feelings about their speech sound errors, 2) building awareness of the sound in words they use everyday and 3) discriminating sounds in their own and others' speech.

HOW TO USE THIS DOWNLOAD:

► I initially made this activity especially for new clients/students just beginning therapy. This is not meant to be independent work but rather for the SLP and child to complete together. I’ve used it with children as young as age 5.

► It creates a light but open discussion about emotions surrounding any given sound they struggle with. Your students can even “rate” their feelings using the familiar emojis.

► These pages also aim to build the child’s auditory awareness of the sound in their daily life (their name, others' names, etc.).

► Finally, it includes a sound discrimination activity. Learning to listen for their target sound in the speech of others and in their own speech is so important for kids because if they don’t recognize words that contain their sound, they won’t know when to apply their “new” speech skills and strategies when the time comes.

► I also find these pages useful for students who have plateaued or have been struggling with carryover. Sometimes we need to revisit feelings, heighten awareness and have a courageous conversation with these students.

► I give students choices of writing utensils during this activity, but a pencil and crayon or colored pencil/marker/highlighter is all that is really needed.
