We all know that kids who are friends love to share food, so what better way to learn about dividing fractions by whole numbers than through sharing two of the best foods there are: pizza and chocolate!
A few extra things to consider if you have the time to read more:
★ These bundles are a unique teaching resource that will excite both your high-performing students and special needs learners.
★ Students with autism or dyslexia will find themselves retaining more math knowledge and for longer periods of time due to the multi-sensory approach that our videos take by appealing to both visual and auditory learners.
★ We all have experienced how a catchy tune can burrow deep into our memories and stay there for years. This is the power of music. We employ this unmatched power as a means to help your students on the path towards memorization & mastery.

I’m Mr. Hehn, and I’ve developed some excellent materials for my classroom throughout my 7 years as an elementary public school teacher that I’d love to share with you. I like to incorporate dancing, singing, and listening to music into my lessons. My project, NUMBEROCK, is a collection of music videos that teach/reinforce mathematical concepts that include posters and lesson plans to make learning math fun in a whole new way.
Four friends sat down at a pizzeria
and shared one half of a pizza.
One half divided by four is one eighth.
That’s the amount of the pizza each of them ate.
Draw one whole pizza and then the fraction.
Divide it by the whole number, and find the quotient.
Two friends were riding in the back of a car,
shared a third of a candy bar.
One third divided by two is one sixth.
They ate their one sixth of the Twix.
Draw one whole candy bar and then the fraction.
Divide it by the whole number, and find the quotient
TEKS READINESS & Supporting Standards
SUPPORTING STANDARD 5.3J
... represent division of a unit fraction by a whole number and the division of a whole number by a unit fraction such as 1/3 ÷ 7 and 7 ÷ 1/3 using objects and pictorial models, including area models.
SUPPORTING STANDARD 5.3L
... divide whole numbers by unit fractions and unit fractions by whole numbers.
Common Core Standard ( CCSS )
Apply and extend previous understandings of division to divide unit fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by unit fractions.
A. Interpret division of a unit fraction by a non-zero whole number, and compute such quotients. For example, create a story context for (1/3) ÷ 4, and use a visual fraction model to show the quotient. Use the relationship between multiplication and division to explain that (1/3) ÷ 4 = 1/12 because (1/12) × 4 = 1/3.
B. Interpret division of a whole number by a unit fraction, and compute such quotients. For example, create a story context for 4 ÷ (1/5), and use a visual fraction model to show the quotient. Use the relationship between multiplication and division to explain that 4 ÷ (1/5) = 20 because 20 × (1/5) = 4.
C. Solve real world problems involving division of unit fractions by non-zero whole numbers and division of whole numbers by unit fractions, e.g., by using visual fraction models and equations to represent the problem. For example, how much chocolate will each person get if 3 people share 1/2 lb of chocolate equally? How many 1/3-cup servings are in 2 cups of raisins?
