PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

My math lessons focus on student engagement and participation. I focus on developing conceptual understanding using manipulatives, specific language and activities.  My lesson plans also include differientiated tasks that cater to the varying levels in the classroom.

Goals:

1) To use the integer chips to model division of integers
2) To discover and understand the “rules” or generalizations for dividing integers

Although this model is contrived because we are trying to model an abstract concept using concrete materials, it can be useful for some learners. You could use equal sharing and equal grouping to explain all except a positive divided by a negative as an alternative to this model.
