Simple, colourful, challenging little game, to help while learning Italian.
It was originally designed for kids 5-8 years of age, but it's really suitable for any age group.
The game is simple. Each card has a matching pair, that is usually the opposite. So for example ‘the sun’ will be paired with ‘the moon’. Each card has a little drawing and a word below in Italian that describes it. Even if you don’t know the meaning of the word, you’ll be able to figure it out with the image.
Turn all the cards , mix them and spread them on the table so that you can’t see the drawing and you don’t know which one is which. Now you can turn two cards. If they are a match, then they are yours! If not, then turn them back. But try to remember what they are and where they are! Now it’s the turn of the next player, who will try as well to turn two cards and find a matching pair!
Don’t hurry in this game. Every time you turn a card, read the word and look at the drawing. Try to think what is the meaning and what could possibly be the correct match. Think is English and try to think in Italian. The cards are useful to learn words but also articles and declination and will help to distinguish and recognise male and female words thanks to the articles.
After few times you’ll notice it will be easier and easier!
Enjoy it! :)
