You'll create player profiles and using experimental probability determine the outcome of basketball games played between your favourite teams!
Aligned with Ontario Mathematics Curriculum for grade 8 and easily adapted to lower grade levels (and upper ones too!). This is a must own for a sports fan teacher who is trying to get their students engaged!
Students will pick an NBA team, and create a player profile for 5 players. After that, the students will use NBA statistics to find out the average stats for each player and record them on a player profile. Then, they will use dice or cards to simulate the probability of a player making a shot. The kids will have to use knowledge of proportion to figure out the number of shot attempts a player will get. This is loaded with math.
