Description
The case of the "planted evidence" is a nonfiction article that tells of a homicide that occurred in Phoenix, AZ in 1992. This is the first court case in history that used plant DNA (from a palo verde tree) to convict a suspect of murder. Prior to reading this article, students should have a basic understanding of DNA fingerprinting and how it works. This is a great way to sneak in some science literacy to your genetics unit!
Included in your purchase are 2 editable versions of the article- 1050 lexile and 690 lexile for lower level readers. Both versions are 2 pages with comprehension questions and answer key included.
