This is the main DNA assignment I do with my 7th grade science students. Part one of this assignment has pairs of students create a model of DNA out of licorice, gumdrops and DNA. Then the students get their picture taken holding their DNA models for Part two of the assignment. In Part two students write a newspaper article pretending that they have just discovered DNA, featuring their picture and describing their "discovery". Can be done as a poster with printed pictures glued on or in Microsoft Word, with a digital copy of their pictures.
Can be adapted for younger or older students depending on ability.
