"My students enjoyed this hands-on activity for our DNA unit. It really helped them visualize DNA replication as a semi-conservative process. "

Description
This simple activity can be done with partners or alone. The end product (shown in photo) is like catching DNA in the act of replication when it is half done. It works well when you have only one hour to do an activity and does not need the details you would need with other DNA building activities. I have used this as an introduction to replication in my life science classes.

Great!
Simple and easy to follow. Kids enjoyed it and it was a great review for a quiz.
Thanks
Students enjoyed working on this activity to help further along their workings!
Great!
My students LOVED this assignment! Everyone was in engaged and on task the entire period. I had them work in pairs due to supplies. Hands on is always the way to go, especially for my students with learning disabilities.
Wonderful! I’m so glad your students liked it!
My kiddos loved this! Very engaging and perfect for their grade level.
Great!
This was a good hands-on activity to help my students understand the process of DNA replication. I always have a stash of beads and pipe cleaners, so it didn't break my budget either! :)
Glad to hear!
Love the hands on
Good resource.
