This is what I use to have my K-1 students work on letter formation, initial sounds, and high frequency words. When we do a letter we work together first (whole group, etc.) to model and practice the accurate formation. We then talk about the letter's sound(s) and chart/brainstorm a list of words that begin with that letter. Those words are what I use to fill in the bottom 6 lines (high frequency words). The blank middle section is where the kids can illustrate their own picture to go with that letter...something personal and meaningful to them. I encourage them to label those illustrations as well for further support. This is great at conferences and at the end of the year to show growth and progress. Enjoy!!!
