When I attended my first seminar on the four levels of DOK, I saw an immediate correlation with Wiggins' Understanding by Design. Both highlight the important of tasks for acquiring understanding, tasks for building on or using an understanding of the content, and tasks for extending or creating new knowledge. This is a great tool for teachers to use when designing tasks or assessments within any of the content areas at various levels of understanding. I hope this proves useful to you.
