Assess your student's recognition of the 220 DOLCH sight words. Included in this set are five word lists that you insert into plastic sleeves protectors for the children to read. As the student reads the words, you simply check the box on his/her form. Leave the box blank if the child hesitates for more than 3 seconds. At the bottom of each page, you’ll be able to easily total the number of words recognized. There is also a place for a few notes, like when a child sounds out each letter and/or asks for help. Knowing which words your students already know will give you the opportunity to differentiate your instruction, right at the beginning of the school year. Since these are completed individually, you’ll have everything you need for progress monitoring. You will be able to assess multiple times. (8 times each for Pre-primer, Primer & 1st Grade and 6 times for 2nd and 3rd Grade) I use this to assess the students at the end of every nine weeks. This form is so easy to use that if you have a volunteer or even a student from an upper grade, they can help you out. However, I generally give the quarterly assessments.
