This freebie is the easy version of my DONKEY OPPOSITES card game.
It is all black and white and the size is smaller than the rest of the DONKEY games, but I started making this one years ago and it has grown in its own format as I added a harder version and sets with prefixes over time.
I have provided this freebie to encourage you to download, print, laminate and play. It is a very easy game based on an old card game I used to play as a kid.
There are 45 cards. Deal them all out between 2 to 4 players. Don't worry about players having one more card than others. It doesn't matter in this game.
Each player matches up their pairs of opposites. (These are listed in the PREVIEW of the full set so you can print them out if you want to.) Once all the pairs are face up on the table for all players to see, you can start.
The first player presents their cards, face down and fanned out for the next player on their left to take one. This player cannot see the card they are taking. If it is a match for a card in their hand they say the pair and put them on the table in front of them and then present their cards, face down and fanned out to the next player on their left, and so on.
The game continues like this until only the DONKEY card is left. Nobody wants the DONKEY card, so it is the fun element of this game. I tell my kids that the person with the DONKEY card has to wash the dishes, but I never have any dishes to wash, so it's just a motivator NOT to get the DONKEY card.
You can make the game last longer by changing the format a little. The first person to end up with the DONKEY card takes the letter D and then they play again. The first time any player loses they take D, then O, then N and so on until they lose 6 times. The first person to lose 6 times is the DONKEY.
A player who runs out of cards has a DEAD HAND and they just watch for the rest of the game.
