This is a template I created to help scaffold my students writing process in history class. It can be used as a information gathering tool, as a step in the writing process or as an assessment. I've found that having more than one student complete the planner for the same question, and then comparing their plans is a valuable collaborative learning technique. It is best printed on A3 paper.
-Analyze the question for key information
-Brainstorm terms associated with the question
-Create a mini-timeline of significant associated events
-Use information to analyze both sides of the topic
-Make explicit likes to the 6 Key Concepts: Causation, Consequence, Continuity, Perspective and Significance.
