Product Description
This lesson is meant to teach financial literacy to students by showing how stock dividends and dividend reinvestment plans (DRIPs) work. It reviews the basic metrics that are relevant to picking a stock that is suitable for long-term DRIPing, and illustrates how these stocks grow over time, even when there is an unexpected event that hurts a company’s valuation. Please note that this product is for educational purposes only. You should consult with a certified financial planner for any investment decisions you make.

How does the calculator work? I talk about it in this video.

This product includes
1) A DRIP calculator. A Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets version are both provided
2) A PowerPoint slide deck that teaches key stock and DRIP related metrics
3) An activity that has students use the DRIP calculator to determine how their stock will grow over time, even if an unexpected event significantly interrupts a company’s operations.

Disclaimer:
This product is to be used for educational purposes only. It is not intended as and does not constitute investment advice for you, your students, or anyone else that uses this calculator or lesson. You should consult with a certified financial planner for any investment decisions you make. Any and all investments involve risk and the potential loss of your starting capital (i.e., the money you initially invest). Certified financial planners can help fully qualify how risky an investment strategy or individual investment is, and explain what type of return (growth on your investment) you might see.
