I don't know about you, but I think activities that offer focused practice with da-compounds are really hard to find, so I created some! So, this file contains two activities that let students practice da-compounds (da-Komposita) in German. The first part asks students to interview their classmates and find out what they think about certain people/places/things, using verbs with prepositions. Students have to answer each question with a da-compound. In the second activity, done as a whole class, the teacher asks students what they learned about each other's opinions. To summarize what the class thinks (or doesn't think) about a particular person/place/thing, students also have to learn da-compounds. You can give students even more of a speaking opportunity to talk about why they have the opinions they do. Both activities are intended for use after students have had a bit of structured practice with da-compounds and verbs with prepositions.
This activity supplements the vocabulary/grammar practice in the college German textbook Treffpunkt Deutsch, chapter 7.
