Practice nearly ALL the adjectives in this unit, along with the adjectives presented in Unité 1, in this activity based on the Apples to Apples game. This game includes 81 adjective cards and 24 noun cards. Full directions are included.
Each student is dealt 5 adjective (green) cards. One student is chosen to be the judge. He/she draws a noun (red) card from the draw pile and reads it out loud. The other students then choose which of their adjective cards they think best matches that noun. Once each student has submitted an adjective card (face down so that others don’t see it), the judge shuffles them and reads them out loud. He/she then chooses which submission they think best matches the noun card. It is entirely up to the discretion of the judge to choose the winning adjective. The student who submitted that card then gets to keep the noun card and the green adjective cards that were used get put aside in a pile.
Play continues with a new judge each round.
The winner is the student who has collected the most noun cards by the end of the game.
Have a really large class and you don’t want to create multiple sets? Put students into pairs or small teams and play as a whole class. Each team takes turns being the judge.
