This NO PREP game is a fun and interactive way to practice vocabulary from the D'accord 1 textbook, Unité 8: Chez nous (also D'accord 2 Unité Préliminaire).
Additional materials needed: bingo markers in several colors or something to function as markers in several colors.
The large grid has 56 boxes total. The goal of this game is to take 4 boxes in a row: vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Can be played in groups of 2-3 students.
Three versions of the game are included: one with black and white pictures and words in English; one with color pictures and words in English; one with words in French. In order to win a box, the player needs to give the French definition of the English word or give the French word for the image in the versions with pictures. In the second (and easier version), players give the English meaning of the French word. This provides 2 different levels of challenge, making it easier to differentiate, if needed.
The page with words in French can also serve as a key to the images on the other pages.
Players take turns with play continuing until one person has won 4 boxes in a row.
Unlike a true Connect 4 game, in this version a marker can be placed anywhere on the board.
Players need to try to get 4 in a row while simultaneously blocking their opponent from doing the same. Complete directions are included.
