This interactive game will keep your students engaged while reviewing vocabulary entirely in French. Complete directions are included with the game.
This activity can be played a number of different ways. This set contains 30 vocabulary words from the Leçon 2 list. There are 2 pages with words and 2 pages with definitions of the words in French. It is easiest to do this activity with only one set of 15 words at a time.
Version#1: Print out each set of 15 word cards on different colored card stock. It is easier to keep the cards for each round separate if they are printed out in different colors. Cut out the cards. You’ll need one set of word cards for every 2-4 students. Print out one set of definition cards and cut them out.
Distribute one set of word cards per group of 2-4 students. Have them spread the words out in front of them, word side up so that everyone can read the words and reach them. Read a definition of a word. The first student in each group to slap the word wins the point and gets to keep the card. To make this more difficult, have students keep track of their points but don’t have them remove the cards as the definitions are called out.
Go through one set of cards and then play a 2nd round with the 2nd set of cards.
Version #2: If you have a large class, don’t want to cut out a bunch of cards and want to reuse the game….. Print out enough copies of the word page for students to play in pairs. Divide students into pairs and distribute one copy of the word page to each pair of students. Have them use the eraser end of a pencil or a capped pen to tap the word as you call out a definition. Have them keep track of points on a separate sheet of paper.
Version #3: Same as #2 except have each student use a different color pen or highlighter to mark the word as its definition is being read.
