This product was written to align with the new Texas STAAR Math TEKs. It also follows the scope and sequence of TEKS Resource System. It builds in new skills daily and spirals the review of skills throughout. This Daily Math Review is part of a Balanced Math Classroom and is an important part of practicing and solidifying new skills. Each week has four days of questions with six questions for each day. There is also a Quiz every two weeks with questions pulled from the reviews. I have found this review to be a tremendous help to my student’s success with the difficulty level of the new TEKs.
Each product contains:
Six weeks worth of Daily Math Review
Each week contains four days of review
Each day contains four questions and one computation practice
Bi-weekly quizzes containing questions from the reviews
Keys to everything
Most questions written to State Assessment Rigor
In my classroom, I give my students 10-12 minutes to work on the questions on their own. Depending on the day, I also have them partner and discuss the questions as they work through them. When work time is up, I have them “put pencils away, and get your grading pen out.” We then discuss each problem, and strategies that can help to solve them. Students use their grading pens to add any strategies, for example, underlining the question, circling important parts, and showing their work to solve the problems. As the year progresses, I am hoping for most of the strategies to be in pencil, and less and less in grading pen as the students become more self sufficient with the problem solving process. Every other Friday, I give the quiz that contains questions from the reviews we have practiced together. This is a wonderful formative assessment tool to check for understanding.
I hope you find these review to be as useful in your classroom as they have been in mine. A lot of time and thought was put into creating them, and I hope they will benefit your students.
