Are you trying to infuse the Daily 3 or 5 into your upper elementary classroom? If so, look no further. After searching for hours for Daily 5 activities that were appropriate for upper elementary and middle school students, I decided to create my own. I started with Work on Writing
in order to build my students' writing stamina to meet the demands of the Common Core, and to prepare them for the PARCC assessment. It has been a favorite activity of my students and I hope that yours will enjoy it as well. With your download you will receive:
1. A Cover Page to use for your Daily 5 Work on Writing Folder
2. Student Directions Page
3. The Writing Assignment Description Page
3. A Grading Rubric
4. An Outline Graphic Organizer for students to use as they plan their writing.
The A Day in The Life
activity asks students to imagine the day to day life of a real or imagined person during the time period that we are studying in class. Students are given step by step directions as well as a graphic organizer and rubric to support their planning. This assignment can be adapted to fit any Social Studies theme from Colonial America to the Great Depression, and will help students deepen their understanding of the content by immersing themselves in the time period of study.
Check back often for updates as I intend to add more of my Social Studies activities for each category of the Daily 5. As always, thanks for dropping by my store, be sure to review, rate, and follow!
