Daily Common Core Journal Prompts - An engaging and thought-provoking way to to get your students writing independently.

The Common Core Standards require students to:

“Write routinely over extended time frames (time for research, reflection, and revision) and shorter time frames (a single sitting or a day or two) for a range of tasks, purposes, and audiences”.

Use “Daily Common Core Writing” for a variety of writing opportunities including: daily writing warm-ups, journal writing , and/or bell ringer activities.

Daily Common Core Writing contains 24 slides. Each slide has 2 writing choices based on five different types of inspirations:

• Quote from children’s literature

• Photographs

• “Would you rather…” Questions

• Proverbs

• “What’s Most Important?” Questions

Each writing prompt has a correlating CCSS writing goal (based on 4th and 5th grade ELA Common Core Standards in writing and language) and is a narrative, opinion, or informative prompt.

Also included in the product is:

  • Suggestions for use
  • Explanation/diagram of slides
  • Student writing log
  • Links to your copy of a Google Slide deck and interactive student writing log

The zip file contains a PowerPoint of the 24 slides and a PDF of all 31 pages of the product.
