This teacher resource product is for a “Daily Do Now (Do-Now) Question Entry Worksheet for Students.” I, as most teachers, utilize a daily question to start each class as it not only sets up the classroom for the day but it is a key necessity to a solid and educationally sound lesson. With this being said, in my early days in education I struggled with how to have my students record their daily answers to the Do-Now question. At the same time, I was plagued with checking each student’s question daily for accuracy. Therefore, with this issue deep in my mind, I constructed a template-based system where students would write their answers in pre-labeled spaces. I entitled this sheet simply enough, “Do-Now.” As per the Do-Now worksheet spaces, students are responsible for duplicating the daily question, the current date and most importantly generating an answer to the question. There are a pre-allotted amount of spaces on the front and back of the template and students are to turn in the Do-Now worksheet after they have completed their last daily entry space for a grade. Ultimately, the grading process is up to the teacher but I personally feel this form of assessment is a good check on whether the student was attentive and actually “mentally present” during the first few minutes of class. By having this worksheet, I significantly cut down on my grading, created a uniform way for students to record their answer to the first question of the day and also, and most importantly, created equity among the student population regarding the expectations of the daily Do-Now assignment. As of this writing, I have been using this template for EIGHT YEARS without fail and have also shared it with many of my colleagues. They both use it as well as sing its praises for the benefit it has given to their classroom. By creating and then consistently using this worksheet, I created a lasting impact on the future of my teaching. I thoroughly suggest this tool for both new teachers as well as veteran teachers alike. Within each class it is used, I strongly believe that it has been proven to show that it will both streamline your educational practice and essentially make your teaching and lessons easier to tackle. (Honestly, wouldn’t we all like that?) Therefore, my “Daily Do Now (Do-Now) Question Entry Worksheet for Students,” is not only a wonderful resource but also a vital tool to anyone who wants to create better classroom management and streamlined lessons. I wholeheartedly stand by it 100%!
