I have used this tracking form for the past 12 years. I've used it with every grade level. In NYC, Do Nows are standard ways to start class. As an ELA teacher, I start class by posting a question and the students answer it on this Do Now sheet. After I take attendance, I go around the room and stamp the responses that are complete, and then we share out or discuss. I collect this form at the end of the week, and it counts as a classwork grade. Do Nows are great to get students focused, in their seats, and thinking about the day's lesson, but this sheet holds students accountable for their work. The stamps are instant recognition of work, and signify to me that a student completed their response in a timely manner. Students inevitably love the stamps, and appreciate the organized collection of Do Nows. The Friday box is larger because I do Free Write Fridays or How are you Feeling Fridays, and students tend to write a lot. You can modify this as needed.
