Help your 4th graders understand math vocabulary with a daily dose of math vocabulary! Use the PowerPoint slideshows and choose the words to teach for the week. The set also includes word wall math posters plus a student worksheet where students work with the word of the day. Set 2 includes all 4th grade Common Core math vocabulary words for the domains Geometry, Measurement and Data and Fractions. Words are also included to remediate and challenge students.

3 PowerPoint Slideshows: 295 slides: Measurement & Data, Fractions, Geometry

You will choose the word students need to learn. The slideshow is really easy to use! Just use the slide sorter view and move the slide in between the title and ending slide. Two format are included 1) Today’s word is….. or 2) Monday’s Word is…, Tuesday’s Word is… etc. To keep you organized, when you’ve taught the words, there are slides that you will move the used words in between. You’ll use this set year after year!

3 Domains of Math Word Wall Posters: 239 vocabulary words, PDF

The full-page size PDF math word wall posters are colorful and designed to be readable from across the room and are great projected full size on your screen. The posters give the word, definition in kid-friendly language, and a visual. Students will refer to the posters all the time.

Student Worksheet: 2 options, PDF

Students will write the word, and give the definition in their own words, give an example to demonstrate meaning of the word and create a math problem showing use of the word, and give the answer. One worksheet has CCSS domains listed at the bottom and one is without CCSS domains.

Teacher Materials: 14 pages, PDF

Teacher directions, hints and tips are included with visuals showing you how to efficiently use the set. There’s also an alphabetical list by domain with standards for each word.

Compare two decimals to hundredths by reasoning about their size. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two decimals refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with the symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual model.
Use decimal notation for fractions with denominators 10 or 100. For example, rewrite 0.62 as 62/100; describe a length as 0.62 meters; locate 0.62 on a number line diagram.
Express a fraction with denominator 10 as an equivalent fraction with denominator 100, and use this technique to add two fractions with respective denominators 10 and 100. For example, express 3/10 as 30/100, and add 3/10 + 4/100 = 34/100.
Recognize a line of symmetry for a two-dimensional figure as a line across the figure such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts. Identify line-symmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry.
Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines, or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size. Recognize right triangles as a category, and identify right triangles.
