This has simplified my life greatly when trying to prepare for my Making Words activities. Check out this quick and easy way to organize and save time! You will need a few materials to put these together, but it is a simple activity to do while sitting in front of the TV or for a volunteer to put together for you!
You will need a File Folder, 4 different colored Post It Notes, and a glue stick. Personalize to fit your individual needs or focus for the week/month. Cut out the cover and both pages and cut your Post It Notes to fit into the squares. If/when Post Its lose their stickiness, simply replace the letters that are needed and you are good to go! You can also use velcro to permanently affix letters and blends to the board. The only problem that may occur is if you have different or more blends and digraphs that you want to change. I have included a copy of the initial sounds and vowels typed on the first page if you want to use this instead of the blank spaces. This may help you if you teach the lower letters so you know your students are putting the right letters back in the right spaces. Use it to fit your own needs!
I have these at my guided reading table and instead of having to "pull" 50 individual letters from my hardware store organizer of cut out individual letters, I simply pull out a folder for each student and we are ready to go!
