Research has shown that working on the same skill every day for 5 minutes is more effective than spending an hour every once in a while reteaching.
In my classroom, I use this packet for Daily Fluency. Specifically, I practice Daily Fluency during Bellwork/Warm-Up Time. This guarantees that I never run out of time during my daily lessons to develop Fluency skills.
This packet includes:
-16 Days of Daily Fluency Practice (4 Problems Each Day)
-Questions are broken down as follows:
#1 is always Factoring by GCF
#2 is always Difference of Squares
#3 is always Trinomial (a is 1)
#4 is always Trinomial (a is not 1)
-As the days continue, questions become more complex
How to Use:
Each student receives a packet each day.
Decide a specific time limit (5 minutes for me) for students to complete all four questions.
Once students have completed all four (or time is up), immediately score students in the packet. There is a spot on each day for a score of 1-4.
Once every student has received this feedback, discuss/go over each problem for the whole class, spending time pointing out most common mistakes and having students make notes/corrections as you review.
Once the packet is complete, assess students to check for mastery.
