-Daily Folder pocket labels "left at home" and "right back to school" in three different colors.
-Back to School HW asssignment for first day of school to help students and parents get into daily folder routine.
Each year, I create a daily folder for my students as part of my classroom management plan. This folder helps to keep students accountable for their work, is a great parent-communication tool, and helps keep me accountable for regularly sending home memos and graded work as well. The idea of a daily folder may be a bit burdensome to think about, but it eventually becomes a classroom leadership role for 1-2 off my students.
I label each folder with the students’ classroom numbers. Each day when the students arrive to school, the first thing they do is unpack their daily folder and put it in their mailbox (also labeled with their class number.) This system makes it easy for the students whose leadership roles are to file graded work. They simply reference the class numbers chart on our focus board to see student names/matching class numbers.
A daily folder does not mean that you have to send home something everyday, but the parents know it is coming, so if they have something to send to you, it’s an easy tool to use. This set includes pocket folder labels in various colors and a back to school procedures HW assignment to help students and parents get used to the routine.
That being said, I like to have these already prepared before the first day of school. Laminate the pages, cut them out, and staple to left/right pockets of folders. I prefer the plastic folders as they are more durable. Enjoy! -TeachforTomorrow
