As a 4th grade teacher, I'm a huge fan of using slips of paper or sticky notes to give my students reminders on their desk. Usually, the reminders involve a change in dismissal or schedule for any pull-out services.
However, I realized while some students feel special to get a note on their desk from the teacher, some students feel singled out. I created this list of daily reminders/goals because I wanted each student to have a slip on their desks based on their individual needs.
I like to copy these on colored cardstock and cut them apart before taping on student desks near their nametags. You could also cut down the columns to give each student the whole set of reminders on their desks (or even to use as bookmarks!).
-Keep your Spelling Dictionary out on desk.
-Make sure your name is on your paper.
-Keep your To Do folder on your desk.
-Is your desk area neat & organized?
-Are you using your best handwriting?
-Don't forget to participate in class discussions.
Let me know if you'd like me to change any of these reminders to better fit your students and your classroom.
