Daily journal is one of those wonderful activities that can target MANY skills such as recalling information about the day, engaging in a functional conversation with peers, listening to others and composing a piece of writing, as well as serve many purposes, including communicating information with home. There are so many skills targeted within this one group that it can be very overwhelming to not only begin, but to over time determine how best to support students and fade out supports. This resource includes outlines for teaching this skill at three levels starting with teacher led groups and gradually shifting to student led discussions.
Included in this resource are:
-Guidelines for setting up & running Daily Journal
-Guidelines for running this group at each of the three levels
-Visual supports for recalling daily information
-Visual supports for behavioral expectations during group
-Visual supports for asking & answering questions and commenting
