Each day includes practice in addition/subtraction, skip counting, place value, and time or money. These basic skills are so crucial for students and by constantly reviewing them it helps to ensure it sticks in their minds!
It contains 4 sets for each week. In my own classroom this was due to a spelling test and late start on one day of the week. Others have used the 5th day as a day to fix mistakes together or go over any the students may have particularly struggled with. I find having that day open helps with flexibility in the classroom!
In my own room I used it as morning work the students started as soon as they entered the room. This gave me time to get lunch count, check attendance, and go through notes the students brought in. I then walked around and quickly checked the 4 boxes for the day. If there was a mistake I put a circle and gave them another chance to correct their mistake. Otherwise I put a star and the students put it in their ”Keep at School” folders so it was ready for the next morning. If students were still struggling with a problem I would often collect the papers and later during math time, I would call back groups to review skills. Later in the year I would even have our class helper walk around and grade with me after giving them a key.
I used this in my 2nd grade classroom, but I’m sure it would be a great jumpstart for 1st graders or even a great review for 3rd graders!
