Product Description
This BUNDLE is ideal for those who teach multiple grades, for reading specialists, reading intervention teachers, and for those who need to differentiate within their own classroom!

With this BUNDLE, all students you teach or tutor can correct CCSS-aligned sentences at the same time, in the same format, at their level - ALL YEAR LONG.

The DOL booklets are divided into 8 week, half-page booklets. Each grade level (3rd, 4th, and 5th) has 40 weeks (5 booklets) of CCSS-aligned ELA skills. The booklets increase in difficulty as the year progresses.

A CCSS-alignment guide is included so teachers can track what standards are being addressed each day. Rounding out the unit is an answer key, to make things as simple as possible for the teacher!

This booklet can be printed with the day of the week at the top, or you can choose to print the booklet with Day 1, Day 2 at the top. This is especially useful if you don't do DOL everyday!

To make the booklet, just copy, stack, cut, and staple.

The student booklets are a half-page in size.

In 3rd grade:
Books 1 and 2 give students 3 sentences to correct each day.

Book 3 gives students 3 sentences a day to correct, and every 5th day (or Friday) students correct a paragraph.

Books 4 and 5 culminate in 3 sentences per day for 3 days/week, a paragraph on the 4th day, and a language activity on the 5th day!

3rd grade learning targets addressed include:

• L.3.1.B Form and use regular and irregular plural nouns.
• L.3.1.D Form and use regular and irregular verbs.
• L.3.1.E Form and use the simple verb tenses.
• L.3.1.F Ensure subject-verb and pronoun-antecedent agreement.
• L.3.1.G Form and use comparative and superlative adjectives and adverbs, and choose between them depending on what is to be modified.
• L.3.1.H Use coordinating and subordinating conjunctions.
• L.3.1.I Produce simple, compound, and complex sentences.
• L.3.2.A Capitalize appropriate words in titles.
• L.3.2.B Use commas in addresses.
• L.3.2.C Use commas and quotation marks in dialogue.
• L.3.2.D Form and use possessives.
• L.3.2.E Use conventional spelling for high-frequency and other studied words and for adding suffixes to base words.
• L.3.2.F Use spelling patterns and generalizations in writing words.

Friday language activities include:

• L.3.2.E Use conventional spelling for high-frequency and other studied words and for adding suffixes to base words.

• L.3.2.G Consult reference materials, including beginning dictionaries, as needed to check and correct spellings.

• L.3.5 Demonstrate understanding of figurative language, word relationships, and nuances in word meanings

• correct spelling of frequently-confused words (too, to, two)
• recognize and correct sentence fragments and run-ons
• correct capitalization
• order adjectives correctly (small, red bag NOT red, small bag)
• use commas in compound sentences
• correct use of commas and quotation marks

Friday language activities include:
1) combining 3 sentences into 1
2) replacing common nouns with propers nouns
3) underlining the adjective and verb in a sentence
4) explaining common figures of speech
5) determining past, present, and future

Books 1 and 2 give students 3 sentences to correct each day.

Book 3 gives students 3 sentences a day, and every 5th day (or Friday) students correct a paragraph.

• L.5.1.D recognize and correct inappropriate changes in verb tense
• L.5.1.E use correlative conjunctions (either/or, neither/nor)
• L.5.2.A use commas to separate items in a series
• L.5.2.B use a comma to separate an introductory element from the rest of the sentence
• L.5.2.C use a comma to set off Yes, and No, and to set off a tag question It’s true, isn’t it? and to indicate address Hi, Steve!
• L.5.2.D use underlining, quotation marks, or italics to indicate titles
• L.5.2.E spell grade-appropriate words correctly
• L.5.3.A expand, combine, and reduce sentences for meaning, reader/listener interest, and style
