What is it?
This Daily Reading Log is a time-saving tool that helps students and teachers keep track of independent reading.
Why is it needed?
It can be difficult for students to keep track of what they have read. A log promotes active reading because it immediately sets a purpose for reading. A reading log is perfect for students who have difficulty recalling details from text and also as an accountability tool.
How is it used?
This graphic organizer is perfect for SSR (silent sustained reading) and for independent reading assigned completed in class or for homework. This reading log holds students accountable for completing the assigned pages. It includes areas for students to write a summary and to express how they feel about what they read. It's a quick chart to complete; it should take the students no more than 5 minutes to fill out after a session of reading.
The reading log is a fantastic tool for teachers to track their students’ progress through a text and as a conversation starter for reading discussions.
What is included?
Included in your PDF download are two versions of the Daily Reading Log which is why the product is listed at 2 pages. The first version has a funky black and white border*, and the second version is border-free.
*Please note that if you choose to use the outline with the border, it will print with small, white margins.
