Need a way to monitor your students' at-home reading with more than just a parent signature? Look no further! This bundle includes 36 weeks worth of reading logs for non-fiction text, with 4 critical-thinking prompts and/or question stems per page (Monday-Thursday)! The prompts/stems engage students in critical thinking, such as analyzing the author's purpose, organization, and graphics/illustrations, making text connections, distinguishing main ideas and details, facts vs. opinions, cause & effect, summarizing, and a WHOLE LOT MORE! The prompts are easily understandable, with plenty of space for students to write. Pass the paper out on Monday, and collect them on Friday. A brief glance will tell you right away if your students are thinking within, or beyond, the text, and can help guide your instruction in the classroom! And yes, there IS a place for a parent signature!!! I also included a guide on how I use the reading logs in my classroom. Check out the thumbnails above for examples of the prompts!
I also have a fiction version of the reading logs available:
Daily Home Reading Logs - Fiction (Grades 2-3)
And I've bundled my non-fiction & fiction reading logs at a 20% DISCOUNT:
Daily Home Reading Logs - Fiction & Non-Fiction (Grades 2-3)
This bundle was created specifically with 2nd and 3rd grade standards in mind, but it would be a great enrichment project for 1st graders who are ready for this kind of critical thinking!!!
