Build a more thoughtful classroom:
Encourage students to synthesize their knowledge by reflecting on what they've learned at the end of each lesson.
Encourage vocabulary growth.
Encourage students to wonder and ask questions.
Neuroscience shows that students who continuing test their recall at intervals are more likely to remember what they've learned. Use this sheet for a quick 2-3 minute reflection at the end of each class period.
I use this reflection sheet on a daily basis in my lessons:
How Do Plants Grow?
How Does Energy Move Through Ecosystems?
