These daily temperature logs (and daily attendance logs) are perfect for tracking temperature and attendance each day. This activity can be done together whole group, independently/as morning work, or as enrichment (have a student use technology to look up the 7 day forecast).
Included are three versions:
• Regular - for 3rd grade and up
• Percent - for 4th grade and up (after fraction to percent conversion is taught)
• Ratio - for 5th grade and up
The percent and ratio sheets refer to daily attendance. For ratio, students can track Boys present to Girls present, or students Absent to students Present, in order to create double line graphs. (a "Key" box is present for this)
For upper grades, the daily high and low temperature can be recorded for creating double bar graphs. (a "Key" box is present for this)
Once a week, the students are to calculate central tendency, and then choose which central tendency number best represents the weekly temperature. Students write out their reasoning on the back. This activity can be extended by searching for landmarks in the graphs (maximum, minimum, greatest change, least change, etc...)
